We regulary get asked lots of different questions about our delicious food. We’ve selected the most common ones hoping that you will find the answer you’re looking for.
The original Mr Organic is our very own Valerio, who comes from three generations of Italian tomato producers and still produces all of Mr Organic’s delicious tomato products on his own farm in Italy. Mr Organic has now grown to a whole team of people, and we all share Valerio’s passion for living positively and eating positively. Meet the family here.
We could talk forever about the benefits of eating organic, but to summarise –
Its better for the planet – respecting nature and enhancing soils, organic farming creates significantly less agricultural emissions and leads the way in food sustainability
Its better for you – fewer pesticides, fewer additives and preservatives, no GM ingredients… in short, no nasties go into organic food
Its better for wildlife – biodiversity is 50% more abundant on organic farms as land use is more nature-friendly
and most importantly… it tastes better!
We have included storage information for all tomato products within the product description.
Our tomato basics are naturally gluten free except from our Seitan Ragu Pasta Sauce, which contains gluten.
Never! There is absolutely no palm oil in any of our products. Palm oil is responsible for ridiculous amounts of deforestation and is extremely harmful to local communities, the environment and wildlife, which is why you’ll never find us using it.
Yes! All our products are 100% plant based, so everyone can enjoy them.

Of course, if more sustainable options become available in the future, we will happily review these.

Both our Free From Chocolate and Hazelnut Spread and Dark Chocolate and Hazelnut Spread contain Hazelnuts and are therefore not suitable for people with Hazelnut allergies.
You can find a full list of the ingredients on the product descriptions here.

Both our Lentil Mix and the Ancient Grain Mix can be added to boiling water and cooked right away. For our Country Mix, 5 Beans Mix and Spelt Mix we recommend soaking over night.
Ensure that the mixes containing lentils are thoroughly cooked before consumption. Like many nuts, seeds and grains dried lentils contain phytic acid, which binds minerals like calcium, magnesium and iron, rendering them unavailable for absorption into the body. Undercooked lentils are hard to digest and may cause gastric distress.
Spelt and Khorasan are both types of wheat, which are not suitable substitutes for people with coeliac disease and/or wheat allergy.
Therefore only the 5 Beans Mix is suitable for coeliacs.
All of our tins are now produced BPA free!
Instead of BPA we are now using Varnished BPA-NI lining. After carefully researching the market, we had found that this was the best alternative offered to replace the BPA.
Since the market is constantly developing, once an improvement from what we are currently using to line our tins is introduced – we will be moving forward, too.
Our baked bean recipe is a closely guarded secret! However, if you’re concerned about a particular ingredient please do contact our customer service team and we will advice you
All our pastas are made from durum wheat and are therefore not suitable for coeliacs.
Our current pasta packaging is not yet recyclable in the UK. Whilst the material in itself would be recyclable, no British recycling company currently recycles it as it’s not profitable for them. There are current initiatives, such as Terracycle that are able to recycle the material, but it’s not as accessible as the council recycling yet. Have a look here if you’d like to find out more: https://www.terracycle.co.uk/en-GB
We are however proud to announce that we also offset our carbon footprint by donating to a tree plantation scheme through our pasta sales.
As soon as our production base is able to offer a packaging material that is widely recyclable in the UK, we will of course be switching to that in the future.
