What are Plant Points?

It’s time to change things up! You have heard of getting your five-a-day, right? Plant Points take it even further by including not just fruits and veggies but also whole grains, legumes, herbs, spices, and more! By being aware of what you are eating, you are working towards a better every day.

Plant Points are a great and simple way to count up your 30 plants for the week. The goal? A varied, plant-packed diet filled with good bacteria that keeps your gut thriving.

Why 30 Plant Points?

Give your gut microbiome something to smile about by increasing its diversity! Research from the American Gut Project and the British Gut Project found that people eating 30+ plants a week had a much healthier and more diverse gut than those sticking to 10 or fewer.

Why does this matter? Plants are packed with prebiotics, the essential fuel for your gut microbes. These include different types of fibre, complex carbohydrates, and polyphenols, all of which help support a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. More plants, more goodness!

Counting is Easy

1 Whole Food = 1 Plant Point

Examples: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts & seeds.

Powdered Whole Foods = ½ Plant Point
Examples: powdered spirulina, powdered vegetable stock.

Herbs & Spices = ¼ Plant Point
Examples: basil, oregano, chilli powder, black pepper.
